In a conventional steam power plant of 500MVA, steam exiting the super heater enters the turbine at a temperature of 320°C and a pressure of 45bars. At the turbine exit the steam has expanded to a pressure of 0.075bars and dropped to 40°C. Determine: - The mechanical energy converted in the turbine. (10%) - The heat energy delivered during the heating process. (5%) The heat energy extracted during the condensing process. (5%) - The mech. energy provided by the pump in raising the water pressure. (5%) The efficiency of the steam power plant. (5%) How many tons of coal have to be burned daily (24hours) in the above power plant.
