Over the last decade a serious debate about paying college athletes has emerged. There's some excellent argument on both sides, both from an economic and ethical perspective. It's a great topic for an economics class. One challenge: can we separate the ethical from the eco- nomic argument? What policy would serve society best? Which groups (players, fans, schools, etc...) benefit from one policy over another? As always there are no right or wrong answer. Your job is to have a spirited discussion of the topic and apply the concepts you are using in class to analyze. (consider all of you concepts: opportunity cost; incentives; marginal analysis; prices, etc.....). In your post, please look at the issue through the lens of an economist - do your best to be unbiased in your discussion. Please support your answer with links, research or additional questions to help forward the conversation. For full credit, please post your initial response by 6/24. Then respond to at least TWO other posts with a substantial 4-5 sentence response by 6/26. Over the last decade a serious debate about paying college athletes has emerged.
