The payroll department receives employee time cards from the production department on weekly basis. In payroll, the time cards are reviewed for completeness and if incomplete are sent back to the production department to be corrected. If the time cards are complete then the data from the time card is entered into the payroll system to update the payroll database. Payroll also receives new employee forms and change forms from human resources which are also entered into the system to update the payroll database. These forms are then filed in payroll alphabetically. Employee paychecks are generated from the payroll database along with one copy of the check. In addition the payroll tax report, payroll tax check, and a weekly payroll report are generated from the payroll system. The copy of the paycheck is filed alphabetically in the payroll department with the time card. The paycheck is forwarded to the production manager to be distributed to employees. The payroll tax report and payroll tax check are sent to the government and the weekly payroll report is sent to the controller.
