Your employer is currently marketing such a dolly using handles that are made as permanent-mold aluminum castings. The firm is in the process of updating its line and is reevaluating the design and manufacture of each of its products. The dolly is part of your assignment, and you have been asked specifically to determine whether the handles should be replaced by an alternative material, such as a polymer or low-cost composite.
Investigate the properties and cost" of alternative materials, including means of fabricating the desired shape, and make your recommendation. Since the existing design was for cast metal, you might want to make minor modifications. Make sure the alternative materials possess adequate properties in the bolt-hole region, and if not, recommend some form of reinforcement.
