Chewing Gum Keeps You Focus

When I think about my school life, I remember the day I was caught chewing a gum in my classroom. It was a common practice in schools and colleges to restrict students from chewing a gum; therefore, this was done to follow the stringent rules of discipline.

The bubble blowing habits of some students laid a cruddy impact on teachers that made the management of the school to prohibit the chewing gums.

Recent studies have shown that chewing gum keeps your mind attentive isn’t itsurprising? After revealing the contributions of a gum to keep you awake, many tests were run to clarify this statement. Different collaborative examinations were carried out by different universities and other organizations to get a clear picture regarding the role of chewing gum in academic sessions.

St.Lawrence University managed to gather 224 students to investigate the brain power of students while chewing gums. The researcher segregated 224 students into three groups. The students were divided and tested in a way that one group chewed gum prior to the test and during the test. The other was persuaded to chew five minutes earlier the test. The last group was asked not to chew anything. After explaining them the terms and conditions, a test was conducted to examine the brain activity. The test results concluded that the student’s memory enhances while chewing the gum, which brought them into a state of shock. Since then, many of the students have adapted the habit of chewing gums while studying. Some analysts suggested that along with the remembrance, chewing a gum can help you accelerate your audio-visual reflexes that serve as the cherry to the cake.

Here a question comes in mind, how does it help memorizing the things we learn? The answer is, chewing habits give your brain a dose of energy-boost as it also helps in amplifying blood flow to the brain and increases heart rate as well as the blood pressure. Some researchers also state that chewing gums induces mastication-arousal that warms up the brain by mimicking the role of energy drinks. However, the tests were not so proficient in illustrating the brain’s pump-up for long-term memory retention.

Considering the test and researches, I think you should try this test by your own. Wouldn’t it be helpful if chewing gum becomes your study companion? Hence, the role of a gum in accelerating the cognitive behavior of your brain will wipe out all the confusions about the question regarding the mastication induced arousal.
