Production of ethanol, made from corn, is on the rise. Some states are even requiring that ethanol be blended in small amounts with gasoline to reduce pollution. The problem is that there is not enough corn being produced: the consumption of corn either as a food product (in all of its many forms) or as a fuel product will have to suffer. Research the issues regarding ethanol production from corn, and discuss what must be considered by farmers when determining whether corn output should be sold for consumption or for fuel.
