Two flash vessels have the same length (L) but different diameters (D). Both vessels contain the same material and have the same operating pressure and temperature. In both vessels, the liquid level is being maintained at 50% by manipulating a control valve at the bottom of the flash vessel. If both vessels are horizontal, at the inlet of which control valve will you expect the higher pressure? Why? What happens if the vessels are vertical?
