Hydrogen has an auto-ignition temperature of 853 K; that is, hydrogen will ignite spontaneously at that temperature
Question:
Hydrogen has an auto-ignition temperature of 853 K; that is, hydrogen will ignite spontaneously at that temperature if exposed to oxygen. Hydrogen is to be adiabatically and reversibly compressed from 1 bar and 300 K to a high pressure. To avoid accidental explosions in case of a leak, the maximum allowed exit temperature from the compressor will be 800 K. Compute the maximum pressure that can be obtained in the compressor. You may consider hydrogen to be an ideal gas with the heat capacity given in Appendix A.II.
