The study Loss of Nitrogen Through Sweat by Preadolescent Boys Consuming Three Levels of Dietary Protein was conducted by the Department of Human Nutrition and Foods at Virginia Tech to determine perspiration nitrogen loss at various dietary protein levels. Twelve preadolescent boys ranging in age from 7 years, 8 months to 9 years, 8 months, all judged to be clinically healthy, were used in the experiment. Each boy was subjected to one of three controlled diets in which 29, 54, or 84 grams of protein were consumed per day.
