Streaklines are shown in Fig. P9–69 for flow of water over the front portion of a blunt, axisymmetric cylinder aligned with the flow. Streaklines are generated by introducing air bubbles at evenly spaced points upstream of the field of view. Only the top half is shown since the flow is symmetric about the horizontal axis. Since the flow is steady, the streaklines are coincident with streamlines. Discuss how you can tell from the streamline pattern whether the flow speed in a particular region of the flow field is (relatively) large or small.
