Industry Trends Report 30th June 2020: A new report published today highlights the latest trends in the UK Telecoms sector. A summary of the key findings is detailed below: 4 million internet telecoms account logins a day in 2019, a fall of 5% since the previous year as customers migrate to using apps 50,000 app downloads a day in 2019, a 20% rise on the previous year 13 million telecoms app logins a day in 2019, a rise of 50% since 2017 350 million payments made using telecoms apps in 2019, a 50% increase on the previous year, compared with 417 million internet telecoms transactions, which represents a 1% increase on the previous year National average of bills paid by cheque a day falls to 65 in the first two quarters of 2020, a 40% decrease since 2015 Other highlights include a record figure of spending by banks on digitizing telecoms, including a planned 1 billion investment by UKAT in the next three years. A record number of paperless billing accounts were also created in 2019 - 20 million, up 35% compared with the previous year - and paying bills through direct debit also saw a 200% annual rise over the same period. The number of UK households paying by cheque to the top five telecoms companies is shown in the chart accompanying this document.
