In the area in which you intend to apply your major as a career, what types of messages will be a normal part of your work day? What types of channels will you use to communicate with customers/clients, co-workers, your employees, your bosses, and others?
What are the kinds of noise that you'll encounter in your work (i.e., either environmental or internal sources such as semantic noise)?
What about context!? What are the physical and psychological contexts that you will work within? What kinds of relationships will you experience in your work? How will your work be contextualized by social and cultural dimensions? How will contextual considerations like these impact how you are expected to communicate; how others perceive you in your communication?
