Due Thursday, May 4 by midnight to be submitted as a homework on STIX. Prepare a short report on information requirements of a small business (Grocery Store example). Prepare your work as an electronic document, submit two files: the original (word, rtf, openoffice, etc) file and its pdf converted version. You may use the report template given below. Name your documents as your student number (for example 170205705.docx and 170205705.pdf). Upload your two files to the corresponding homework entry under STIX. If you fail to provide one of the expected files grade points will be deducted. Also, for each late minute of submission, 1 grade point out of 100 will be deducted. Recall the Grocery Store example covered in class. Gather and organize in a short report some of the essential information requirements to support a Grocery Store. Group the requirements under categories and itemize them. Only list the name of the item, no need to include a description, how it works or it is generated or where it is needed. Hint: these items will be names not verbs. Processes are actions (verbs), required/generated information is represented as entities (names). You may look at the flow of Money, Products, Information in order to discover which requirements you want to report. Namely you may examine which actions and transactions create, generate, exchange, manipulate, move, interact with money, products, information, what kind of information is required by decisions, plans, actions that are part of managing a grocery store. You may also look at which processes are regularly used in order to operate a grocery store. The information required to run these processes and the information created by these processes. You can use the report template given on the next page. The example categories (boxes) given are just a suggestion, you do not need to stick with them. You can combine or split them into less or more categories or add or remove categories if you want. Limit your report to 1 or 2 pages. You do not need to be exhaustive, resist the temptation to go overboard, a one page report is ideal.
