In april 2010 the eyjafjallajokull volcano in iceland erupts. although it did not cover any meeting venues with lava, it did affect many meeting, especially those in certain aeras of europe at, or arround the time of, the grounded airplanes for several days. hundred of flights were cancelled because they could neither fluy into nor  out of many major european meetings destinations. thus, meeting attendees were stranded in europea cities or were unable to get to those cities to attend meeting that started after the euruption. to make matters worse, for those attendees staying in european hotels, guest who were able to drive to their destinations were demanding rooms, but attendees who could not get out had nowhere to go?
