Question:
Please explain this assignment, and give me some suggestions
Objective
The overall aim of Assignment 3 is to develop two items that address an identified opportunity or challenge: a prototype of a digital community to showcase; and documentation consisting of a use case scenario report.
This assessment item must be attempted by groups of 3-5 students. Please register your group on Blackboard under Assessment Tasks > Group Join.
Description
The overarching analogy for this assignment is that you will be working as part of a team developing a digital community that has a purpose. Digital or online communities serve the same range of purposes that offline groups, networks, and communities serve. They provide their members with opportunities for information sharing and learning, for companionship and social support, and for entertainment.
Online communities can also produce benefits for non-members—either public goods that benefit society as a whole, such as open source software, product reviews, and encyclopaedia pages; or private goods, such as suggestions for product improvements or new product designs that benefit the organisation that convened the community.
Further, organisations are increasingly employing online communities and social networks as part of their business model and products and services are becoming crowdsourced or co-created by self-organised online communities that disintermediate existing business structures.
When choosing a problem space, please note that the topic should not be an example demonstrated previously in class, such as the example of a digital community to benefit student life at university from the Assessment 3 Ideation Activity from the week 6 tutorial.
Part A: Prototype showcase
Your prototype can be a visual mock-up component or a practical working system component. Here are some tools that might help you realise your prototype (most mock-up tools are free or have a 30-day trial):
- Invision
- Axure
- Balsamiq
- Mockflow
- Mozello website (customizable - can add code)
- Wordpress blog installation with BuddyPress and BBPress plugins - a working website! See this useful video.
- Marvel App
- Adobe XD free if you sign in with your QUT email.
- Figma
- MediaWiki wiki installation
You are required to showcase/demonstrate your prototype in the form of a video presentation of the final version of your digital community. You need to manage your workload effectively in your team, while one team member must video record the presentation and talk through the prototype of the digital community. The video presentation should be 3 minutes in length (+/- 10%). Your prototype of your digital community must be clearly visible in your video presentation and your voice heard.
Part B: Use case scenario report
Your task is to analyse and discuss how your prototype has (or could) apply a range of the theoretical concepts we covered in class. The report should be of professional quality, include the usual sections expected in a professional report, and be appropriately referenced using QUT APA style. See the Assessment Task 3 Group Template for more details.
