Reflect on the role that media play in your everyday life. Which media do you tend to use most often? Why? How? What purpose do these media serve for you? You are graded on your ability to reflect on your use and consumption of these media. See below for examples of what might constitute media. Step 1 - The "What" Step In this first step, think about the three top forms of media you consume on average every week Examples of media are Instagram, TikTok, streaming shows (e.g., Netflix, Disney +, Amazon Prime, Crave), novels, podcasts etc. You may want to be very specific and name the three shows you watch the most, for example, or you may want to reference a platform more broadly e.g. Instagram, TikTok, Facebook. Step 2 - The "So What" Step In this step you are going to explore the reason behind your consumption of these media forms. Below are some prompts to help you: -Why do you consume this form of media? -What goes through your mind when you choose to consume this media? -Do you enjoy the media you consume? If yes, why? -How do you feel about the media you consume? -How does it make you feel to consume this media? Step 3 - The "Now What" Step In this last step you will expand on your reflections in step 2 "so what". Here we want you to explore if you would change anything about the media you consume. For example, if you mentioned in step 2 that you feel sadness or anxiety when consuming a specific form of media, would you change your use of this media in the future? Why or why not? Below are some prompts to help you out: -Do you need to change anything about your media consumption in the future? -Would you like to change how you consume media? -What are the consequences (positive or negative) of the way that you consume media? -Are there other media that you wish you consumed more, that are not in your top 3? -Why do you wish you consumed these more and what is keeping you from consuming these media.
