Sufficient information is shown in Figure 2 to establish the tangents of a vertical profile (i.e., vertical alignment).  The vertical alignment is related to the horizontal alignment in Figure 1.  The length of vertical curve (LVC) for the first curve (PVI at Station 200+50) is 750 feet.  There is an existing bridge above the proposed profile between stations 345+75 and 348+55.  The low member of the bridge is at a constant elevation of 1578.75 feet at the location where the proposed profile will pass underneath.

Find:

(i) For vertical curve #1

a. PVC and PVT stations and elevations 

b. Station and elevation of low point

  

(ii) Establish length of vertical curve #2 (PVI Station 347+30) such that:

- Length is a multiple of 50 feet 

- Provides vertical clearance of at least 16.5 feet between the low member and roadway profile grade.
