Question:
The Jeddah Health Point is a hospital (JHPH) whose construction was completed on 21st August 2018 and handed over to the investor on 25th August 2018. The appointed CEO Dr Dalya Mohammed Alghamdi describes the hospital as a 200-bed general hospital whose staffing has been partially completed in July 2018 but the hospital still suffers from 20% medical staff shortage, 18% shortage of nursing staff and 22% shortage of administrative staff including HR Director and Training Director. The Acting HR Director and the Training Director are university degree holders with less than one year of work experience.
There have been on average of 2 mortality cases monthly after commissioning of the hospital among deteriorating patients. The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), Omnya Alhabib believes that the main reason is lack of Rapid Response Team (RRT) in the hospital. Also, medication errors are frequently reported.
The second phase of development including establishment of NICU and Paediatric Cardiac Surgery should be completed in October 2021.
The JHPH quality issues are dealt with by Mr. Riyadh Algarni, Quality Coordinator, who always complains about lack of direction, inefficiency in Root Cause Analysis and reviewing medical files. He holds a Master of Science degree in Healthcare Quality with 2 years of experience after his graduation.
