The objective of this analysis is to get a better understanding of the links between banks and non-banks. As non-banks are not supervised or regulated by the US Federal Reserve, or by Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, or by the US Comptroller of the Currency, direct data on non-banks is difficult to obtain. However, the financial statements of commercial banks reveal their lending to non-banks. This is a small measure of the interconnections between banks and non-banks.
This assignment requires you to research data on commercial bank lending to non-banks, chart the data, and analyze the results. The analysis may require you to perform additional calculations on the data, or create comparisons of individual data series on the data, based on the objectives of your analysis.

Compare the assets of commercial banks to GDP, versus assets of non-banks to GDP.
