The State Patrol Ticket-Processing System (SPTP) The purpose of the State Patrol ticket-processing system is to record moving violations, keep records of the fines paid by drivers when they plead guilty and schedule court dates if requested. When an officer issues a ticket to a driver, a physical copy of the ticket is created and the ticket details entered into the system by the officer. A new ticket record is created by the system containing the officer name and badge #, ticket id, vehicle make ,model, plate number and VIN, driver's license number, name, address, and date, time, place and nature of the infraction and fine amount. Subsequent to receiving the ticket the driver may go online and respond to the ticket by entering their drivers license number to gain access to their ticket. The driver may have several tickets. They can select the ticket they wish to action. They can then plead guilty and pay the fine immediately, or request a court date or ignore the ticket at that time. The system will either receive payment and update the ticket as paid and record the payment amount, date and credit card type and number or mark the ticket as requesting a trial. No trial is scheduled at that time. Later to a fixed schedule the SPTP will process all tickets where the driver has requested a court date and select a court location and court room no from the several that are available. Each court location has a name (e.g. Central District) with an address and has several court rooms where an appearance can be scheduled for a specific date and time. There will usually be many appearances in a particular court room on any given day and time. At the same time a summons will be created with these details to be later mailed to the driver. Also periodically for all tickets that have not been responded to in 15 days since the time of issuance the SPTP will create a reminder notice to be mailed to the driver.
