The Week 6 dataset is from a study of factors predicting survival time after a diagnosis of prostate cancer. The dataset has 14294 observations and 5 variables.
The Variables in the Week 6 dataset are:
- grade: tumor grade; 2 levels
- mode (moderately differentiated)
- poor (poorly differentiated)
- stage: the stage of disease at diagnosis; 3 levels
- T1ab (Stage T1, clinically diagnosed)
- T1c (Stage T1, diagnosed via a Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) test)
- T2 (Stage T2)
- ageGroup: levels 66-69; 70-74; 75-79; 80+ years of age
- survTime: time, in months, from diagnosis to death or to last date known alive
- status: censoring variable
- 0 (censored) - left study or lost to follow-up
- 1 (death from prostate cancer)
- 2 (death from other causes)
You will use SAS Studio for your analyses. Provide your output.
- Conduct an exploratory data analysis.
- Design a Kaplan Meier survival plot for each grade, stage, and age group separately using the Nonparametric Survival Analysis Task in SAS Studio. Include the Survival Function and Hazard Function plots (uncheck 'survival function estimates in options).
- Fit a Cox regression model for survival (status = 0) using the following categorical covariates: grade, stage, and ageGroup.
- Include survival function plot and cumulative hazard function plot.
- Interpret Hazard Ratios.
- Design a professional scientific poster to communicate your study. Like an abstract, your poster should include:
- Introduction - The research question, hypothesis, and justification
- Summary of the methods
- Summary of the results of the descriptive and analytic analyses
- Tables and figures as appropriate
- Interpretation, limitations, and public health application of the results.
