What are the four principles of ethical approaches? Please use the four principles to evaluate genetic screening
Question:
What are the four principles of ethical approaches? Please use the four principles to evaluate genetic screening in pregnancy.
Principles are:
1. Non-maleficence: An action must not harm anybody affected by it.-physical harm-social harm/privacy: isolation, point fingers?-financial harm: banking, insurance, or loan?-limited to humans only or includes animals/plants?
2. Beneficence: An action should achieve some positive good (usefulness).-not for its own sake or increase scientific knowledge-beneficial to who: those participating or others-present risk/harm vs. future gain ratio
3. Autonomy (self-determination): people should be allowed to determine their own fate-others should not make decisions-others should not restrict decisions-medical paternalism: patients would be better off if not know--informed consent-mental health/children/prisoners?
4. Justice: People who are equal in relevant respects should be treated equally-justice vs. autonomy conflict-race-income-smoker/non-smoker-age
I don't know how to do the second part of the question: "Please use the four principles to evaluate genetic screening in pregnancy"
