Network Outsource Alliance Example: GPOs negotiate prices for supplies and equipment for their large memberships. Contract organization Function: Members contribute resources to co-own a separate organization. The joint-venture organization produces value for its members. Example: A hospital and physicians create a medical services organization to produce value for its member-and in some cases nonmember-organizations. Function: A central organization contracts out components of its functions. The contract organizations return value to the central organization. Example: A pharmaceutical company contracts out research and development or clinical trials.
