Question:
This problem utilizes the process model in Problem 10.1 and the EEIO model in Problem 10.8. Develop a hybrid model to determine the life cycle SO2 emission for producing 1000 kWh of electricity.
Data from in Problem 10.1
Data from in Problem 10.8
Transcribed Image Text:
10.1 Process A uses 10 m³ of oil and 10 kWh of electricity to produce 8 m³ of fuel. It emits 1.5 m³ of SO₂. Process B uses 1 m³ of fuel to produce 5 kWh of electricity and emits 0.2 m³ of SO₂. Answer the following questions for this system. 1. If the system produces 1000 kWh of electricity to sell to consumers, what is its total (direct and indirect) SO₂ emission? 2. If it sells 0.1 m³ of fuel and 10 kWh of electricity, determine the total quantity of crude oil used and the SO₂ emitted.
