The Fund Travel Agency operates four offices in a medium-sized metropolitan area. Each office has several individuals who plan trips and make reservations for clients. In order to optimize the use of employee time, all reservationists are shifted from office to office as needed. The company’s telephone system operates such that customers can dial a central number and then be connected to the office where a reservationist is then assigned to that particular customer. A problem in the system is that since the reservationists do not stay at one office, they do not always have the customer’s records when a customer calls in to review or change a reservation.
