Every human being fears to fail. This is the same case with the leaders. Most of the leaders are afraid of some things, but failing is the most feared among all of them. The loss of direction among the leaders can be attributed to challenges in governance especially in making and implementing decisions (True North). Besides fear, each and leader want to be recognized and at the same time be rewarded for his/her good work. Acceptance among the subjects is also one of the desires of a leader. In leadership, there is authentic leadership. An authentic leader is a leader who can control personal attributes. Inability to control one’s personal characteristics leads to leadership deadlocks. You desire as a leader should be on how to counter various leadership challenges

If we can look at the book in which we are building our discussion, the book emphasizes on the reasons why leaders fail. It highlights and describes five reasons as to why leaders fail as they lead other people. The five perils are as below.

3. “I must not slow down on the way to the top.” As a leader, when and how did your star shine? What was your reaction? If the same circumstance repeats itself, what will you do differently from what you did?

4. While making decisions are there situations where as a result of self-doubt, it was difficult for you to make the right choices? Are there reactions you feared that are ideal for this situation? If the same scenario repeats itself, what will you do differently from what you did?

5. Is there a situation where you desired recognition concerning rewards for good work you did? Were you recognized? How did you administer this circumstance? If the same situation repeats itself, what will you do differently from what you did?
