In the essay entitled "The Rising Cost of NotGoing to College" by the Pew Research Center it is clear that the organization has concluded that going to college is a good investment for one's future.
However, there are plenty examples of people who have "made it" in life without ever having gone to college. Some examples are Bill Gates, Ellen DeGeneres, Oprah Winfrey, LeBron James, Lionel Messi, Mark Zuckerberg, Kim Kardashian, Russell Simmons, Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars, to name a few.
Yet despite these many success stories, one can argue that attending college and gaining a college degree is a wise investment for one's future.
In a well-developed essay, argue that going to college is, in fact, a smart move for many. Provide examples/illustrations in your body paragraphs.
Outline suggestion:
- Introduction: Begin with a summary that leads to your thesis - develop the thesis off the highlighted above.
- Body Paragraphs: Illustrate/use examples which support the thesis (two or three points in two or three body paragraphs depending on what time allows), support with specific examples and integrate supporting quotes from the reading in accurate MLA formatting
- Conclusion: Stress the key points which support the thesis and end with a concluding strategy
