The 2009 motion picture The Merry Gentleman was considered a commercial failure despite some critical acclaim. The film’s producers sued Michael Keaton, the film’s lead actor and director, and Keaton’s “loan-out company” that he uses for professional contracting, seeking $5.5 million in damages for breach of contract.
