Why You Should Join OnCampus Activities and Clubs

Going to college is far more than just attending classes, studying, taking exams and taking part in OnCampus Activities. It’s also more than social events and parties. College is an ideal time to set yourself up for a successful career and find out more about yourself, what causes you believe are important, and what you enjoy doing.

On-campus extracurricular activities are a great way to meet new people and have experiences you wouldn’t have had otherwise. These extracurricular activities will round out your experience and you might just develop hobbies or find a career path you wouldn’t have considered otherwise.

However, extracurricular activities have a much bigger purpose in your future. Here are some reasons why participating in these activities and clubs can be beneficial.

They look great on a resume

When heading out into the working world, your resume is a written testament to who you are as a person and what your accomplishments have been. This means, not only your education is important! You are more than your schoolwork. Extracurricular activities demonstrate to employers that you are a well-rounded person who makes time for leisure and works well in a group.

They can help you get ahead

Spending time playing intramural sports or in glee club is great, and demonstrates that you work well on a team. However, there are some extracurricular activities that can help you advance faster than your peers in the workplace, especially in entry-level positions. From on campus Activities shadowing with a professor in your field, to tutoring other students online with companies like SolutionInn, to joining a club that’s specific to your chosen profession, these kinds of strategic extracurricular activities can make you stand out in a pool of candidates.

On Campus Activities provide networking opportunities

It’s amazing what kinds of people you meet when you join a club or organization. Whether they’re students, faculty or guest speakers at a meeting, networking and building relationships with people in your field can help you greatly down the line. Other students can provide job leads, and help with resume writing. They’ll also be your greatest ally in the future if you find yourself looking for a new job in a new part of the country. Faculty members are an excellent resource, especially as recommendations for future jobs or graduate school. If you have a guest speaker come to your organization, or do volunteer work at a nonprofit, build a relationship with those people as well. They could be the gateway to future opportunities.
