Good evening,
A hypothesis test that would be helpful in my work is examining whether structured follow-up support improves appointment attendance among veterans. Missed appointments can negatively affect continuity of care, so understanding what interventions make a difference would be valuable for improving outcomes.
In this study, the variable being tested would be the appointment attendance rate. The null hypothesiswould state that providing structured follow-up support (such as reminder calls or texts) has no effect on appointment attendance. The alternative hypothesis would state that structured follow-up support increases appointment attendance. My initial guess is that veterans who receive structured follow-up support would show a higher attendance rate than those who do not. A significance level of 0.05 would be appropriate for this type of workplace study.
If the null hypothesis were rejected, it would suggest that follow-up support significantly improves attendance, leading me to advocate for implementing or expanding reminder systems and support interventions in practice. If the null hypothesis were not rejected, it would indicate that the intervention does not have a meaningful impact, prompting me to explore other factors influencing attendance, such as transportation barriers or appointment scheduling flexibility. Either outcome would help guide data-driven decisions to improve services and better support veterans.
Respectfully,
Wayne Farmer
