To complete this assignment, I used the Random Integer Set Generator to obtain two sets of patient "Care Satisfaction Scores," each ranging from 1 (lowest satisfaction) to 20 (highest satisfaction).

The two sets generated were: Set 1: 10, 13, 15, 16, 19 Set 2: 3, 7, 8, 13, 18

Because the instructions allow using all ten randomly generated numbers, I combined both sets into a single dataset of 10 scores. The combined list, in ascending order, is: 3, 7, 8, 10, 13, 13, 15, 16, 18, 19.

To calculate the mean, I added all ten scores: (3 + 7 + 8 + 10 + 13 + 13 + 15 + 16 + 18 + 19) = 122 122 10 = 12.2.

The median is the average of the 5th and 6th numbers: (13 + 13) 2 = 13.

The mode is the number appearing most frequently: 13 (appears twice).

Since the satisfaction scale ranges from 1 to 20, this dataset shows mostly moderate to high satisfaction, with only one low score (3). The majority of scores fall between 10 and 19, suggesting that most patients reported positive experiences. As McLeod (2019) notes, central tendency values help summarize data patterns clearly, and in this case both the median (13) and mode (13) fall in the moderately high range.

If reporting these results to my supervisor, I would explain that overall patient satisfaction appears generally positive, with a mean of 12.2 and most scores well above the midpoint. However, the presence of a few lower ratings, such as 3 and 7, may indicate isolated issues that should be explored further through patient feedback. Monitoring satisfaction trends is essential for improving patient-centered care and supporting quality improvement initiatives (AHRQ, 2020).
