Exercise 2: Interview Exercise The hiring process is critical in human resources management. The purpose of this exercise 1s to analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of the hiring process. 1. Select a position in your company and provide the position title and job description. You must include an actual job description in addition to your summary/outline of the position. Tease out the key skills, characteristics, and abilities (SCAs) needed for this job based on the job description. 2. Based on the job description, create a series of interview questions that would best assess the candidate. Make it clear on the interviewer form what SCA each question is assessing (can use headings). In other words, if you identify communication as critical, clearly label which question assesses communication and create a question to specifically assess a candidates communication. 3. Develop a rubric for evaluating candidates (i.e. things you are looking for in responses and qualities you are looking for in the candidates (leadership, skills, knowledge, abilities, communication, ability to work on teams, etc.)) Make it clear on the form how interviewers are evaluating the candidate and what they are looking for in effective vs. ineffective responses. This can include numerical scoring, and also word detail. For example, if you determine that leadership is a critical SCA for this position, detail what you are looking for in the candidates response that demonstrates effective leadership qualities versus an answer that would demonstrate low leadership potential
