THE NEW TAX CAN CRIPPLE THE WHOLE BUSINESS IN THE CITY

The proposed law of taxing the companies which have caused harmful environmental impacts in past 10 years period is not practicable one, as it can create some unnecessary situation for the ongoing business of the area.
The legislature of Patna recently proposed a tax to support the government in order to find money to impose more rules and regulations to control the environmental pollution in the area. It is a good decision to enforce stronger rules to minimize the industrial pollution but the way they have planned to get funds is not acceptable. The authority has planned to tax the companies that have previous records of environmental pollution within the past 10 years.
This tax is not recognized as a solution to the problem, instead of that it can create certain unhealthy impacts on local industry. The proposal for the tax is not properly drafted and it has several drawbacks. It does not mention the number of years or the amount that they have planned to impose the tax on the relevant industries.
Nine years ago Universal chemicals was accused for an environmenthazard due to leakage of waste but the management has taken stringent measures to manage the waste in the proper manner and restricted each and every type of pollution. There is not even a single complaint about this company. Since that incident the company has been spending significant amount for add measures for the environmental pollution.
The company offers thousands of job opportunities to the young people in the area. The new tax will be an added burden to the company and the management has decided that there is not any other alternative than closing down the plant, if this situation does not change and such move can create a huge number of unemployment in the area. The authority must consider this matter seriously.
