In school, I began to be curious about DNA, cells and disease biology. Watching television documentaries on modern medicine fueled my curiosity. After completing school, my goal was to develop research and teaching skills in life sciences. I wanted to do my own research and to share the knowledge that I would gain during my own academic journey.
I did my Bachelor in Biotechnology fascinated by its multidisciplinary approach. Doing my undergraduate in biotech acquainted me with a broad set of subjects. The coursework helped me gain theoretical knowledge of physiology, genetics, and molecular biology. An important aspect of our curriculum was to present topics across different subjects in front of a huge audience comprising students from other classrooms, teachers and external evaluators. This helped foster an increasing interest of teaching biology in me.
I continued to pursue an MS in Biological Sciences. The MS coursework included subjects like advanced molecular biology, cell trafficking, and embryo development. My MS thesis project focused on the aging of blood stem cells. Towards this, I learned to standardize, perform and troubleshoot techniques and assays used in hematopoietic biology. The project work contributed to a research publication in a peer reviewed journal.
All throughout I got opportunities to present my research at various national and international conferences. I also happened to teach my juniors and school students during special science programs organized by our institute. I soon realized I enjoyed teaching more than conducting research in a lab.
After completing my studies I joined an NGO focused at providing learning opportunities to students from rural parts of India. I work as a volunteer teacher and teach science to primary and secondary level students. It's been an enriching experience where I learned that education is the key in creating a stable future for any developing country.
I currently work as a freelancing subject matter expert. I have consistently performed well in delivering timely solutions. My key areas of expertise include genetics, molecular biology and biochemistry. My answers are tailored to help students gain maximum benefit of learning online. I break down the basic concepts by putting schematics and hand drawn illustrations explaining the answer in detail.
I now wish to expand my horizons and reach out to more students to share my knowledge and contribute towards the new era of digital learning.
