A very dilute solution of ethanol in carbon tetrachloride shows a sharp IR band at 3580 cm-1. As the solution is made more concentrated, a new, rather broad band appears at 3250 cm−1 to 3350 cm-1. Eventually the sharp band disappears and is replaced entirely by the broad band. Explain.
