If you were asking me at my younger age, "what you wanna become in the future?", I would have replied anything, but not teaching. I was certainly not someone who saw the dream to become a teacher nor someone who think that I could enjoy teaching until I complete my undergraduate course. However, things started changing slowly. If you are asking me now, what you enjoy the most, I will definitely say "teaching".
My first formal classroom teaching experience was during my postgraduation studies with my own colleagues. The opportunity came in the form of a seminar presentation which then extended to two or three complete lectures. It was a wonderful moment, peace, satisfaction and much more. More importantly, I realized that I am not a bad teacher at all.
I had been teaching in various tutorial centers thereafter. Soon after this, I joined for my doctoral studies at the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST- academic institute working under ISRO ) and completed my doctoral degree in extragalactic astronomy. After the completion of my Ph.D., when I return back to teaching, I have a completely new perspective about this job. Earlier, I considered teaching as a boring job and teachers do just a repetition of the same tasks all the years. However, I am convinced that this is not true. If there is any job which can keep the freshness till your retirement, it is nothing but teaching.
