a. Construct a pie chart for the countries and a pie chart for the states. Are all the roller coasters in the world included in the data set? If no, were the roller coasters most likely randomly selected? Explain.
b. Construct a scatterplot that describes the association between the heights and lengths of the wooden roller coasters. Do the same for the steel roller coasters. Show both scatterplots in the same coordinate system if you know how to use colors or shapes to identify which points are for which scatterplot.
c. Describe the four characteristics of the wooden-roller- coaster association. Compute and interpret r as part of your analysis. Do the same for the steel-roller-coaster association.
d. Construct residual plots for the wooden and the steel associations. Describe important features of each residual plot. How do your observations relate to the observations you made in part(c)?
e. For each of the two associations, find the coefficient of de- termination. What do your results mean in this situation?
f. On this basis of the results you found in parts (b)–(e), does it make sense to use a regression line to model the wooden association? If yes, find an equation of the line. Does it make sense to use a regression line to model the steel as- sociation? If yes, find an equation of the line.
