Suppose that two areas are monitored for catch sizes and one of them has a daily average of 1.7 tons and a standard deviation of 0.4 ton, while the other has an average daily catch of 1.5 tons and a standard deviation of 0.7 ton. Both estimates are obtained from independent random samples of 25 days.
