I taught journalism and writing skills, at South Dakota State University and at Southern Illinois University.
Especially when I was teaching at South Dakota State University, I have had extensive experience tutoring students from all over the world. Much of my tutoring was in preparing students for writing assignments, public presentations and presentations for potential employers.
Before going into teaching, I was a radio news reporter, covering the Idaho and Oregon legislatures and state governments. I won a national award and several state-level awards while doing so. Because of that background, I developed a lifelong interest in government and politics--especially state level government and politics.
