June’s Java provides coffee services (coffee, cups, cream, sugar, and coffee makers) to local companies for use in their offices. Each of five drivers has a truck with inventory and has a different route each day to replenish coffee sup-plies to the companies on the route. In past audits, the accountant found that June’s Java was having difficulty properly recognizing revenue, usually due to timing issues. In addition, the internal control over inventory on each driver’s truck was weak.
June’s Java has prepared its third- quarter financial statements and the owners want a review of the information. The accountants have audited the financial statements for the past three years but have never been asked to review any interim financial information until now.
