A car is held stationary on a ramp by two forces. One is the force of 480 lb by the brakes, which hold it from rolling down the ramp. The other is a reaction force by the ramp of 2250 lb, perpendicular to the ramp. This force keeps the car from going through the ramp. See Fig. 9.48.
