(a) Fit a simple linear regression model for relating baby’s birth weight (????) to mother’s weight at the last menstrual period (????).

(b) Use the residuals to check the regression assumptions.

(c) Provided the regression assumptions appear to be satisfied, test whether or not there is a linear relationship between a baby’s birth weight and mother’s last at the last menstrual period.

(d) Determine the percentage of the total variation in birth weight explained by the simple linear regression model.

(e) Does this model appear to do a good job of explaining birth weight? Explain.
