You may have heard about the so-called “ugly American,” the demanding, ethnocentric traveler who finds fault with all that is different abroad. But a recent survey among 4,500 hotel owners worldwide suggests that the least liked tourists come from France. The “best tourists” are the Japanese followed by the British and the Germans. What may account for such perceptions?
