Estimate the diffusion coefficient of acetic acid (A) at 25C in dilute solutions of (a) benzene, (b)
Question:
Estimate the diffusion coefficient of acetic acid (A) at 25°C in dilute solutions of
(a) benzene,
(b) acetone,
(c) ethyl acetate, and
(d) water using the Wilke–Chang equation and, where appropriate, the Hyduk–Laudie equation and compare these estimates with the following experimental values. Note that while, in water, acetic acid is in monomer form, in organic solvents, it is associated and diffuses as a dimer.
