Suppose that next semester you plan to study abroad in a European country that uses the euro. Let’s assume that you won’t be working there (and therefore won’t be earning euros) and that you’ll be bringing dollars to Europe and converting them to euros for living expenses. During which time period between now and the time you return home would you want the dollar to appreciate? During which time period would you want the dollar to depreciate?
