Forecasting hurricanes has become a fine art in Florida. It takes a combination of meteorology and statistics to build forecast models. The following probability distribution was reported in “What Seasonal Hurricane Forecasts Mean to the Residents of Florida” in April 2003.

a. Build an extensions table of the probability distribution and use it to find the mean and standard deviation of the number of hurricanes experienced annually in Florida.

b. Draw the histogram of the relative frequencies.
