In the Excel solution file accompanying this chapter, a data set on hairdresser customers is included (sheet named P- 12- 10- Data). The data contain information about the various characteristics of existing customers and whether they responded positively to a previously given offer (Yes/ No). The hairdresser now has information about five new customers and wants your help in determining which of these new customers are likely to respond “Yes” to a similar offer. Use the k- nearest neighbor algorithm (with k=3 and a threshold of 0.5) to classify these five new customers. Also assess the performance of your classification results using the metrics described in the chapter.
