enter the variable for the woman’s poverty status (poverty).

This will yield information about the mean BMIs of two groups of women: those whose families were above poverty, and those whose families were below poverty. Instruct the computer to compute 95% CIs. Then answer the following questions:

(a) What was the mean BMI for women below poverty?

(b) What was the mean BMI for women above poverty?

(c) What are the standard errors for the two groups? Why do you think they are different?

(d) What are the 95% CIs around the mean BMI for the two groups of women?
