Every company needs to plan in order to move forward. Its top management must consider where it wants the company to be in three to ve years. Like a company, you need to think about where you want to be in three to five years and you need to start taking steps now in order to get there. With some forethought, you can help yourself avoid a bad resumé, like the one described in the “All About You” feature in this chapter.

(a) Where would you like to be working in three to five years? Describe your plan for getting there by identifying specific steps that you need to take.
(b) In order to get the job you want, you will need a resumé. Your resumé is the equivalent of a company’s annual report. It needs to provide relevant and reliable information about your past and accomplishments so that employers can decide whether to “invest” in you. Do a search on the Internet to find a good resumé format. What are the basic elements of a resumé?
(c) A company’s annual report provides information about its accomplishments. In order for investors to use the annual report, the information must be reliable; that is, users must have faith that the information is accurate and believable. How can you provide assurance that the information on your resumé is reliable?
