Go to the World’s 2000 Largest Public Companies (Forbes 2006 list) (http://www.forbes.com/2006/03/29/06f2k_worlds-largest-public-companies_land.html) or Financial Times 500 (2009 list) (http://www.ft.com/reports/ft500-2009) and select any 8-10 multinational firms from the top 100 companies. From the company Web sites, obtain corporate annual reports. This document (in addition to giving many financial details about the firm’s performance over the last year) will normally give some indication of the organizational structure of the firm. Once you have the information, classify the firms using the organizational schemes suggested in the chapter. Be sure to document why you think the firms falls into the category you have selected. If you believe the firms are using a combination or hybrid form, be sure to explain the form and why you think it is being used. Report your findings to the class or the instructor.
